| My life has definitely been
like the rollercoasters I love to ride. Each year they get better &
better... and so do I.
Ungenita (UN gen nee'ta)
1. Possessing talent, ambition, vision, intellect
and beauty.
2. Derived from Agneta Martensson, a Swedish Bronze Olympic Swimmer.
By
the age of five, she was enrolled in the prestigious St. Louis Cathedral
School of New Orleans. With a natural instinct toward performing -- then
as now -- she began dancing and twirling a baton establishing herself
as the doll of the French Quarter Mardi Gras.
Growing up in the gritty Iberville projects of the Crescent City, Ungenita's
kaleidoscopic genetic gumbo-- a heritage that includes a cross-pollination
of African-American, French, and Chinese forebears made her a standout.
Teased for her exotic looks and eccentric ways, she was keenly aware she
was different. When, at age nine, she had a vision of being in the music
business, her Father's sage advice "start in your own backyard".
In Ungenita's backyard echoed the calypso thump of Mardi Gras, the cadence
of the brass-band festival processions and the wailing Gospel of the church.
From the radio came the music of Sade, Madonna and Michael Jackson. Inspired,
at age 10 she commenced writing her own lyrics. In her teens she performed
in school recitals, became fashion savvy & obsessed over cosmetics.
She attended a beauty college in the San Francisco bay area where she
thought for a split second of becoming an Aesthetician.
With
a smile powerful enough to illuminate a dark room. In Hollywood, Ungenita's
visual attributes were an instant calling card. She immediately garnered
roles in sitcoms including Martin and The Jamie Foxx Show. Her big screen
debut was in a hot tub--packed side by side with Jon Bon Jovi and Billy
Bob Thorton--in the film Home Grown. A spoof, Cheerleader's Revenge, continued
this cinematic path. She was also cast in Steven Spielberg's historic
epic Amistad and has been in perpetual
motion ever since. Over the years she’s landed bit parts opposite
LL Cool J, Cuba Gooding Jr., John Salley, DL Hughley, Ice Cube and Aries
Spears on Madd TV. She has shot several national as well as international
commercials. We should also let you know Ms. Prevost was a body double
for some other famous faces.
Focused like a bullet in flight. Watch out!!! Fine, Feisty & Fierce
Ungenita knows the day will come when she hits. She is constantly preparing
for more TV/FILM roles by continuing to study her craft. There is no stopping
her evolution into a full blown star. "I want the world to see I'm
not a one dimensional actress." I take great pride in my work. It
doesn't matter if the part is small or large. If I'm doing Comedy or Drama.
My performance has to be believable." Her musical visions have come
to fruition, a CD was released with female pop group SLAMMIN.
Her collection of song lyrics has grown which has enabled her to collaborate
with other songwriters. Her innovation as a dancer is a riveting addition
to her visual appeal both on stage and in the era of the video. She has
danced in videos on MTV & VH1. When the late Robert Palmer shot the
music video for his dance remake of his classic "Addicted To Love"
she was cast as one of the back up singers. Sorry, but you'd have to be
in Europe to see her grooving in this video. Her passion for dance keeps
her pirouetting at some of LA's coolest dance studios. In a pursuit to
further advance her head to toe talent in 2004 she began vigorous training
in Kickboxing/Tae Kwon Do at Rifkin Pro Karate Center and has already
reached red belt status. In the summer of 2006 she placed first with her
Kata at Jun Chong’s Martial Arts Tournament. Ungenita also enjoys
Pilates, indoor cycling and running. She even trained for the 2003 Aids
Marathon in Vancouver, Canada. In the HOLLYWOOD RACE she'll take any MARK,
is READY to breakdown barriers, SET to take chances and is making a GO
at overcoming adversity.
Ungenita will be the first to tell you. "Everything happens for a
reason (Good And Bad)". In a rejected oriented business she hurdles
over the obstacles and has the strength to sustain. We might call her
a tough (chocolate chip) cookie. In a New York minute she can go from
girl in the hood to the girl next door to the girl you wished you lived
next door to. Not afraid of her Essence, she combines Savvy, Sassy and
Sexy effortlessly! A multi-faceted entertainer, knowing talent is mandatory
for any true artist and believes that personal conviction and passion
are just as important. "If your heart and soul aren't genuinely there,
it's enough to turn an audience off". What is next for the fearless,
immensely talented and unstoppable Ungenita Prevost? As executive producer
- from concept to creation- of her own film Veronica's Veil, she's added
another hat to her talent collection. Not one to rest on her laurels she's
creating opportunities with her company Little Black Girl Productions.
Watch out for this sizzling hot career!!!
